Boys’ Brigade

Still following Jesus 90 years on….

1st Bangor Boys’ Brigade is a Christian youth organisation working with boys between the ages of 4–18. Our aim at 1st Bangor Boys Brigade is to make a positive contribution to the life of each boy.  We provide a balanced programme of activities, each Friday night offering the boys something different. It is the perfect way for the boys to begin their weekend.

This year is a special year in the life of our BB as we will be celebrating our 90th Anniversary! As part of our celebrations we are creating a 90th Anniversary badge, but to be awarded the badge the boys have to undertake the 90 challenges.  Are you up for the challenge ahead?   In May 2019 we hope to organise a dinner and Church service, so if you are an old boy of the Company, send us an email so we can keep you up to date with what’s happening.  It will be a perfect opportunity for you to meet up with some old friends.

We have four sections within 1st Bangor Boys Brigade, which meet most Friday’s between Sept & April. We begin our 90th session on Friday 7th September 2018.

Bugle Boys (4-5 years) meet in the Wilson Hall, 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Anchor Boys (6-8 years) meet in the McKinstry Wallace Hall, 6.45pm to 8.00pm.

Junior Section (9-11 years) meet in the Guild Hall, 6.45pm to 8.30pm.

Company Section (12-18 years) meet in the Wilson Hall, 7.15pm to 10.00pm.

Our younger sections enjoy games, craft and stories. Our Junior Section boys enjoy football, undertake badge work, trips to the Police or Fire Station and take part in various Boys’ Brigade competitions. Our Company Section boys enjoy a wide range of activities, sports and trips out. Badge work can range from cooking, first aid, robotics workshops, Raspberry Pi or assembling a digital camera. Trips for our Company Section boys this year include Clip n Climb, Ruby and Eddie Irvines. Our Company Section boys also work towards their Queens Badge and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
